Our Vision
Amelia
County Public Schools, Food and Nutrition Services will assist in
developing excellence in each and every student. In an atmosphere that
values diversity and human resources, we will be the best Food and
Nutrition Services program around by providing students with food and
nutrition knowledge, skills, and values they will need for a healthy
body in an ever-changing global society.
Our Mission
We will provide nutritious meals that reflect current research and meet the recommended dietary allowances for school-age children. We will provide nutrition education with the school cafeteria serving as the nutrition laboratory. We will serve as a nutrition education resource to the community.
Student Wellness
The Amelia County School Board recognizes the link between student health and learning and desires to provide a comprehensive program promoting healthy eating and physical activity in division students. Based on review and consideration of evidence-based strategies and techniques, the School Board has established these goals to promote student wellness. Schools Meals and Snacks
The Amelia County School Board recognizes that students need adequate, nourishing food in order to learn, grow, and maintain good health.
Generally, To reinforce the division’s nutrition education program, foods sold to students
during regular school hours on school premises will be:
carefully selected so as to contribute to students’ nutritional well-being and the prevention of disease;
prepared in ways that will appeal to students, retain nutritive quality, and foster lifelong healthful eating habits; and
served in age-appropriate quantities and at reasonable prices.
