Every link should make sense if the link text is read by itself. Screen reader users may choose to read only the links on a web page. Certain phrases like "click here" and "read more" should be avoided.
Example: Hyperlink text that is descriptive
Learn how to measure angles  click here  -Don't use links like this
Learn how to measure angles

It's not necessary to include the word "link" in the text, Links should already be apparent and screen readers will call them by link.
Link to Homework - Don't include "link to" this is redundant when read by screen readers

Use descriptive text that's unambiguous and that can be intuitively organized regardless of the order it's listed (the screen reader might sort them in order of appearance or alphabetically).
Choose your period: 1st or 2nd  too ambiguous when read out of context
Choose your period: 1st period  or 2nd period

Screen readers would read all of the links on this page like this:

Link, click here
Link, measure angles
Link, link to homework
Link, homework
Link, 1st
Link, 2nd
Link, 1st period
Link, 2nd period
