Dr. Lori Harper has worked in the field of education for over 37 years and is currently serving as Superintendent of Amelia County Public Schools in south central Virginia. She has devoted her career to enhancing organizations that serve children. Her numerous career experiences have frequently involved transforming existing programs, creating organizational systems, or initiating new programs.

As a young adult and undergraduate student majoring in psychology, elementary education, and minoring in early childhood education, Dr. Harper achieved highest honors in psychology and was awarded the Friehofer Award in Psychology for her research on early peer interactions. She was also recognized with the American Association of University Women Award in Education. Early in her career, Dr. Harper was an elementary teacher working in both public and private schools as she and her family made many moves affiliated with the United States Air Force.

Each move of duty station brought opportunities. In the Netherlands, Dr. Harper worked for the Department of Defense in early childhood programs and in training and curriculum development. She initiated new programs and enhanced existing programs earning her a Civil Service Outstanding Performance Award. Dr. Harper then moved to Edwards, California where she opened a new program for NASA Dryden earning her a NASA Group Achievement Award. Following several moves with public and private sector teaching and administrative positions, Dr. Harper settled in Virginia in 2002.

Dr. Harper has experienced Virginia public education as a teacher, assistant principal, elementary principal, high school principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. She has worked in a National Blue-Ribbon school as well as with schools in improvement. As superintendent, Dr. Harper received an Award for Excellence as a member of the first cohort of the Virginia Superintendent’s Leadership Academy, and currently serves as a Senior Executive Coach for VASS. During her tenure, Amelia County Public Schools has received recognition as one of 12 schools in Virginia Living’s Top Schools in 2022, as one of the Niche.com top 10 districts in the Richmond area for 2023, and recognition for Amelia County High School as one of the top 100 W!SE schools in the nation.

Dr. Harper has been affiliated with the Virginia Federal Education Program Administrator’s (VAFEPA) board, the Advisory Council for the Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School, the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School Steering Committee, the Code RVA Steering Committee, the Governor’s School of Southside Virginia, the Amelia-Nottoway Technical Center as Executive Superintendent, the Virginia ESL Supervisor’s Association (VESA), the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), the Virginia School Consortium for Learning (VaSCL), the School University Research Network (SURN), the UVA K-12 Advisory Committee, the Virginia Association of School Superintendents (VASS), and the Women Education Leaders in Virginia (WELV).

Dr. Cindy Reasoner has served Amelia County Public Schools since July 2014. From 2014-2018, she served as the Principal of Amelia County Elementary School. In July 2018 she was promoted to the Director of Human Resources and Instruction. Dr. Reasoner has worked within both departments since 2018 and has served in her current role as Director of Human Resources and Administration since June 2023. Previous to coming to Amelia County, Dr. Reasoner has had the pleasure of serving as an elementary assistant principal, AVID program coordinator for middle and high schools, and middle school teacher in several different rural, suburban, and urban school divisions including Chesterfield County, Virginia Beach City Schools, Hampton City Schools, and Newport News City Schools. Dr. Reasoner began her educational career in August 1994 as a middle school teacher at Huntington Middle School in Newport News.

During the summer of 2020 Dr. Reasoner served as a VDOE committee co-chair on the Return to School Task Force which created the VDOE Recover-Redesign-Restart guidance document for public school divisions. She has presented at professional conferences throughout Virginia, including VASCD (Virginia Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development), VAESP (Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals), and WELV (Women in Educational Leadership in Virginia) on data analysis for continuous improvement and on creating a sensory room for students with disabilities. Dr. Reasoner also presently serves as a board member at the Swift Creek YMCA and has worked collaboratively with the YMCA to bring the “Learn to Swim” and Bright Beginnings backpack programs to Amelia County Public Schools to help further support our students.

Dr. Reasoner earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University in 2017. She holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Mary Washington. Dr. Reasoner completed her coursework for an endorsement in Administration and Supervision from Old Dominion University. Dr. Reasoner resides in Moseley with her husband and two sons.

Dr. Jan Medley began her career at Amelia County Public Schools in August 2000. From 2008-2011, she served as the Special Education Coordinator at Amelia County High School and Amelia County Middle School before transferring to the elementary school to serve in the same capacity. In 2012, she was promoted to Assistant Principal at ACES where she remained for five years before a promotion to ACMS Principal. Currently serving as the Director of Student Services, Dr. Medley enjoys merging all of her interests and strengths to serve students in Amelia County Public Schools.

Dr. Medley earned a doctorate from Virginia State University with a concentration in counseling. She holds a bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation and a master's in curriculum and instruction in special education, both from Longwood University. She is an active member of several community/service organizations and enjoys being a part of the Amelia community where she resides with her husband and four children, all of which attended Amelia County Public Schools. She contributes to her professional growth by serving as a board member for VASCD and as a committee member for VCASE (Virginia Council for Administrators of Special Education).

Dr. Heather Gentry earned a Bachelor's Degree from Lock Haven University with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education.  She went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Administration and Supervision from Regent University, and she earned her Doctor of Education from the College of William and Mary in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction.  

Dr. Gentry began her career in education as an elementary teacher in Richmond County and Essex County.  She served as the Assistant Principal at Cool Spring Primary School in King William County before becoming Principal of Essex Intermediate School in Tappahannock, Virginia.  After serving in that role for 3 years, she then served an additional 3 years as Principal at Bon Air Elementary School in Chesterfield County. She joined Amelia County Public Schools in February 2021 as the Director of Human Resources.  She transitioned to her current role of Director of Instruction in June 2023.

Mr. Bo Lynch, an ACPS graduate, has served Amelia County Public Schools since July 1999. Mr. Lynch has served many roles at Amelia County Public Schools during his tenure, such as computer technician, Red Hat Academy Instructor (first public K-12 high school in the USA to offer this program), IT Manager, and currently serving as the Director of Operations for the Division. He has seen technology grow from small computer labs to where we are today with a 1:1 program with technology assisting in day-to-day operational functions and educating students. Mr. Lynch also serves on the Virginia Department of Education K12 IT Advisory Committee.

Mr. Lynch has five children that attend or have graduated from Amelia County Public Schools. He considers Amelia "home" and looks forward to serving the citizens of Amelia County for many more years to come.

Daniel Trump earned a Bachelor's Degree from Longwood University with a major in English and Secondary Education. He went on to obtain Master’s Degrees in English from Longwood University and Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Mr. Trump began his career in education as a high school English teacher in Prince Edward County before coming to Amelia County Public Schools as English Department Chair and DE English teacher at Amelia County High School in the summer of 2013. After serving in that role for 5 years, he served for 4 years as the Assistant Principal of Amelia County Middle School. He has served as Director of Finance and School Nutrition since July 2022.
