Good afternoon ACPS families! This is a reminder that ACPS provides healthy, nutritious, and FREE breakfasts and lunches for ALL students each day.
ACPS qualifies to do this by participating in the USDA's Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Rather than collecting school meal applications to make individual student eligibility determinations, schools that participate in the CEP are reimbursed using a formula based on the percentage of students who automatically qualify for free meals based on their household’s participation in specific means-tested programs, such as SNAP and TANF.
In the coming days, a SNAP flyer outlining eligibility requirements and providing information on how to apply for benefits will be coming home with your student. This form will also be delivered via email and will be available to parents via PowerSchool. If your family is in need of assistance, SNAP may be able to help.
If you ever have questions or suggestions regarding ACPS food service or nutrition programs, please reach out directly to Daniel Trump, the ACPS Director of Finance and School Nutrition, via email at trumpd@ameliaschools.com or by phone at (804) 561-2621.

Spots are filling up, so don’t wait—register today with Amelia County Parks & Recreation and be part of an awesome season!
On July 9, Governor Glenn Youngkin issued Executive Order 33 to help bring cell phone-free education to Virginia schools. Cell phones and personal electronic devices may not be used or worn by students in school buildings or on school grounds during the instructional day. The instructional day includes the first bell to the closing bell. This means that cell phones cannot be in a student’s pocket or clothing and must be turned off at all times from the bell to bell window. Smart watches, earbuds, and other personal electronic devices are also prohibited. As a reminder, students who need to communicate with parents during the school day, may do so using office phones.
We understand there are questions regarding this afternoon's delayed release and the air conditioning at Amelia County High School (ACHS). We want to provide you with an update on both situations.
This afternoon's delayed release was caused by an unforeseen issue that required buses to hold at the middle school until cleared. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your patience.
We are also experiencing an issue with one air conditioning unit at ACHS. The affected unit serves the main office as well as the English and Science halls. The mechanical failure, which occurred on Friday, August 9th, involves two of the unit’s three compressors. We have been in touch with several vendors and they have confirmed 5-6 weeks before the parts can be obtained. ACHS administration has created a plan to temporarily move students from the affected classroom to other classrooms or areas within the school building.
Lastly, as part of a county grant project, VDOT is working on constructing sidewalks in front of the middle, high, and elementary school. This project should not impact school operations, but you may see VDOT vehicles and personnel on school grounds.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work together to support our students. Please feel free to reach out to the school administration if you have any further questions.
