This afternoon, ACPS addressed an issue involving the presence of stray dogs in the vicinity of the school. As a precautionary measure, all schools were placed on a soft lockdown to ensure the safety of our students and staff while the situation was addressed.
We are pleased to report that the situation has been successfully resolved. The stray dogs are no longer a concern, and the school has returned to normal operations.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We appreciate the cooperation and patience of our school community as we took the necessary precautions to address the situation.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
We look forward to seeing everyone at ACHS home games this school year! As you are aware, there has been an uptick in threats to school systems during recent weeks. At ACHS, we are committed to the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and visitors. Beginning Thursday, September 10, 2026, we will be using the OpenGate weapons detection systems at every entrance for all sporting events, including football. If you choose to bring a bag into a sporting event, it will be subject to search. Please be patient as we work through this process.
Please be reminded that all elementary and middle school-aged guests must be accompanied by an adult (age 18 or older) for the entire event. Elementary and middle school students may not be dropped off at the gate or attend an event without adult supervision. Students who arrive without an adult will be asked to wait at the gate until they can be connected with an adult who will remain with them throughout the event. This expectation applies to both home and visiting spectators and is intended to help us maintain a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment for everyone. Please also be aware that these requirements are in place for some of our away games at the request of the away school administration. Currently, Randolph-Henry is making the same requests. Please be sure that our young students are supervised and safe during away games.
Smoking, vaping, etc. is not allowed during ACHS sporting events or on school property (including parking lots) at any time.
Also, animals and sporting equipment (balls, etc.) are banned from ACHS home sporting events for spectators. Service animals must be pre-approved by ACHS administration.
Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the games!
